Contact improvisation in water is a partner dance form emerging from sharing physical contact in a playful, cooperative way. The movers let the physical forces such as friction, buoyancy, or inertia lead them into the unknown, standing, floating, or underwater.
Within Ancient Egypt, water was seen as compensation for the freedom that the soul loses when it enters its bodily form. The first experiences of being in-body are held within a water state. As we enter into the water, we return to this safe body-mind state, feeling held and connected to the source.
Dancing in water invites us to fully enjoy our presence here and now, to respond with patience, to surrender to feeling, and to explore the inner patterns and workings of our mind.
Recommended for those who love water, those who wish to release fears around water, and those who wish to surrender to trust in their daily lives.
